Italian conductor Riccardo Frizza graces the cover of the January 2017 issue of Classical Singer magazine, celebrating his Lyric Opera of Chicago début in Vincenzo Bellini's Norma

Internationally-acclaimed Italian conductor Riccardo Frizza further established his credentials as a bel canto artist of the highest order with his critically-lauded Lyric Opera of Chicago début in Vincenzo Bellini's Norma.

In his Chicago Tribune review, John von Rhein wrote that 'with Italian conductor Riccardo Frizza, a first-rate Italian opera specialist making a welcome Lyric podium debut, the performance boasted more than enough vocal thrills, elegant orchestra playing and committed choral singing.' Reporting for the Chicago Sun Times, Hedy Weiss described the opening-night performance, on 28 January 2017, as 'impeccably conducted by Riccardo Frizza.' Bachtrack's Dan Wang singled out Maestro Frizza's work with the orchestra for praise, writing that 'the Lyric's orchestra performed well under Riccardo Frizza, with the strings standing out in particular for ensemble and lyricism,' and Lori Dana's assessment for Chicago Stage Review was that 'the dialog between Radvanovsky [singing Norma], the Lyric Opera Orchestra, and maestro Riccardo Frizza (who also conducted the Met's blockbuster production of Norma) is exquisitely precise and perfectly integrated.'

BRAVO, Maestro!
